Outside

After the remodel was "done" and Grampa went back to the farm, we still had a lot of work to do.  I already mentioned the trim filling/painting that we did last weekend.  We also did the trim in the hallway.  Before that though, we did some work on the outside of the remodel.

We had several bushes and lot of greenery on the outside wall of the garage.  It was causing the rain to head toward the house and we had some water leaking into the storage room through the rotting walls.  Nice visual.

Brian cut the majority of that shrubbery stuff down and we are monitoring the situation.  As of yet, we have not had any water into the storage room.  But, we haven't had any huge rains yet.

We also have had the question of the windows.  Do we leave them white and paint the three new windows we had installed last year white to match?  Or do we paint the new white windows to match the house?

This is the only picture I could find of the windows white with the outside wall painted.  I guess I never stood back and took an outside photo once it was done.

Not sure if you can tell, but the windows and the door really stick out compared to the rest of the house.  Soooooo . . .

We decided to paint the white windows and the door to match the house color.  We think it looks better and it blends better with the rest of the house.

From this shot you can also see the difference in the house color.  It just goes to show that matching paint from a sample piece of rotten wood you bring to the store is not going to be 100%.  So, we still need to get some more paint for the side and back of the house.

Someday . . .

Here are Peter and Matthew playing by the patio door.

Cute.
