Freeze Update

In all our years of living here, I don't recall ever seeing icicles so I had to take a photo of the baby icicles hanging from the roof.  Nothing like you get up north, but exciting for the kids anyhow. 

The kids played outside in the cold after James ventured into the attic and got out some mittens, gloves and a hat.

Snow Day

Woke up this morning to a little snow/ice on the ground.  Still sleeting out and Brian's car is covered in ice.  Got an email that LSU is closed for today.  Yeah!

The girls are taking a photography class with some friends and occasionally they have shooting assignments to do. 

Fortunately for them there are plenty of models around the house.

In other news . . .

Andrew is taking piano lessons from James.

Our hermit crab Adrian moved into a new shell - and then another new shell.  Seems he's having a hard time deciding on the right home.

And the neighbor's cat is still hanging around.  

James started school last week.  He's got 12 credits this semester.  We've gotten a lot of things ready for the baby which is good because we've got 4.5 weeks left.  

The weather was beautiful today so we took a picnic lunch to the park after church.  I didn't get any photos because I was too busy watching Matthew and Peter slide down the slides.  They had a great time!  

Construction Update

Happy New Year!  

Just a little update on the construction . . . 

We finished the crown molding and also the batten look on the ceiling.  

I really like the way it looks.  

We trimmed the window and the door. 

Last night we added carpet.  

Brian asked me to remind him every once-in-a-while why he does not want to be a professional carpet installer.  

I'll try to remember . . . 

Here are a couple of pictures of the new room after the carpet!  

It looks good!  

We also did some work on the hallway.

New paint and some batten boards on the ceiling in there too. 

We also finished the baseboard.

So, the only major thing left will be to replace the gutters on the outside over the new siding.  Otherwise, we're pretty much done.  Thanks for tuning in on our construction project - it's been real!
